  • 1900 ã. – The first flight of LZ 1 dirigible; 119 airships manufactured through
  • 1908 ã. – Founding of Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH
  • 1950 ã. – Reestablishment as Metallwerk Friedrichshafen GmbH
  • 1954 ã. – Zeppelin becomes an exclusive Caterpillar dealer in Germany
  • 1961 ã. – Company renamed in Zeppelin Metallwerke GmbH
  • 1966 ã. – Zeppelin Headquarters move to Garching, close to Munich
  • 1982 ã. – Distribution of Zeppelin-built construction machinery under the brand name Zeppelin
  • 1991 ã. – Takeover of Caterpillar sales in the Czech and Slovak Republics
  • 1992 ã. – Takeover of Caterpillar sales in Austria
  • 1994 ã. – Restructuring, name change to ZEPPELIN GmbH
  • 1996 ã. – Takeover of Caterpillar sales in the Ukraine
  • 1998 ã. – Takeover of Caterpillar sales in Northwest Russia
  • 2001 ã. – Takeover of Caterpillar sales in Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan
  • 2002 ã. – Zeppelin becomes an exclusive distributor of Hyster forklift trucks and warehousing equipment in Germany, Austria and many East European countries
  • 2003 ã. – Takeover of rental business of MVS AG, Berlin and formation of MVS Zeppelin GmbH & Co. KG
  • 2004 ã. – 50 years Zeppelin and Caterpillar
